Exhibiting a “spirit” of brotherhood, togetherness, humility, cooperation, and a willingness to go an extra mile for the goal sought, as a responsible first-class citizen. This can be demonstrated by presenting obstacles overcome, awards received and honors issued.

Sharing ones gifts with the community in the form verifiable aid, activism and leadership.

The Sigma Upsilon Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on May 17th, 1952, to Bro. Wilfred Homer Anderson in Lansing Michigan. Sigma Upsilon seeks only the highest standards for real brotherhood amongst men. We are a graduate chapter that is comprised of men who were born, raised, educated, and/or currently residing in the Lansing area. Our members are of various ages, backgrounds, and professions. We currently have men in Military Service, Law, Medicine, Business, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Law Enforcement, Education, and Non-Profit Leadership. We have dedicated men who voluntarily dedicate their time and resources to bettering the Lansing community because they know what it takes to be a friend.
Our founders also knew the importance of having real friends, so much so that “Friendship is Essential to the Soul” was adopted as our Fraternity Motto; it serves to nurture the true Omega Spirit. Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift are our Cardinal Principles. In combination, they make up the framework for guiding us as Omega Men.
Based on our Cardinal Principles, Sigma Upsilon Chapter offers dynamic programs that serve and empower the Lansing community. They include HBCU Black College Tours, Scholarship Funding, Feed the Homeless programs, Adopt a Family initiatives, Mental and Physical Health Initiatives, Political Involvement and Awareness Initiatives, and many more.
The brothers of Sigma Upsilon Chapter make lasting impacts that improve the City of Lansing. We consistently find new ways to serve the public in our effort to create a positive environment that Lansing residents are happy to call home. We extend and open invitation to attend our public programs and fundraising events. It provides opportunities to get to know us and share innovative ideas to help further our goal of community uplift.
